Gabriel Moraes is a Brazilian-born, Melbourne-based DJ and producer who makes driving, hypnotic techno for open-air festivals and late-night dance floors. His sound draws on Brazilian rhythmic roots, the scale and atmosphere of Australia’s bush scene, and the tension and precision of German techno.

Australia's bush festival circuit is his home ground. He has played Subsonic, Esoteric, Earth Frequency, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Elements, Dragon Dreaming, Mushroom Valley, Multiverse, Art Valley, Blossom and HOME Gathering, with international dates at Twisted Frequency in New Zealand and XXXPERIENCE Festival in Brazil.

His productions appear on Volta Records, IbogaTech, Stone Seed, KOSMOS, Vision Serpent and Digital Structures. His breakthrough track Die Hölle was played by Eric Prydz at Creamfields Steel Yard in London and remixed by Dusty Kid, Citizen Kain and Niko Schwind. Solomun, Richie Hawtin, ANNA, Pan-Pot and Victor Ruiz have all supported his music.

Brazilian-born and Melbourne-based, his sound draws on Brazilian rhythmic roots, the scale and atmosphere of Australia's bush scene, and the tension and precision of German techno. Fast, heavy on low-end and distorted synth work, and built to hold a crowd under a night sky rather than a low ceiling.

That sound has a natural home. Australia's bush festival circuit is where Gabriel plays most, and it has shaped how he writes. Esoteric Festival, where he has played more than once, runs a stage called Bush Techno, and Bush Techno is a concise description of what he does. Alongside Esoteric he has performed at Subsonic, Earth Frequency, Rabbits Eat Lettuce, Bohemian Beatfreaks, Elements, Dragon Dreaming, Multiverse, Mushroom Valley, Art Valley, Blossom, Mega Fauna Mammoth and HOME Gathering, with international appearances at Twisted Frequency in New Zealand and XXXPERIENCE Festival in Brazil.

Coming from Brazil matters to how the music sounds. Brazilian producers have carried a particular weight in techno for years, and Gabriel arrived in Australia already carrying that lineage, then found a scene that pushed it somewhere new.

His records have landed on Volta Records, IbogaTech, Stone Seed, KOSMOS, Vision Serpent, Digital Structures, Dear Deer and Subios, including the Fado EP on Digital Structures and two collaborative releases with HNGT. In April 2025 he recorded an exclusive mix for radiOzora, the station run by O.Z.O.R.A. Festival, as episode 32 of the Stone Seed Series. His breakthrough remains Die Hölle, released on Dear Deer, played by Eric Prydz at Creamfields Steel Yard in London and later remixed by Dusty Kid, Citizen Kain, Niko Schwind and Boy Next Door. Markus Schulz played it on Global DJ Broadcast. Solomun, Richie Hawtin, ANNA, Pan-Pot, Victor Ruiz, Nicole Moudaber, Coyu and D-Nox have all supported his productions.

He has also remixed Carbon, Tom Baker, Eddi Sander, Fabrication and Maksim Dark, and collaborated with Doppel, HNGT, Aender and Rafael Cerato.

Gabriel plays sets built largely from his own catalogue, released and unreleased, threaded together with records from artists working in the same direction. The result is a set that could not come from anyone else's crate.
